RX Executive:
Several architects had tried and failed to find a solution that satisfied this very particular client. They liked their house but it was too small for their growing family. They wanted a common list of changes- more space, bigger closets, bigger kitchen, more staff quarters, a basement that didn't feel like a basement. And- they wanted to live in the house while we did the work. This included excavating and underpinning 1000sqft of new basement where a crawlspace existed. A bit like rebuilding a car while it drives down the highway.
We dressed up a bit of the existing builder-grade details and added elements to look like they should have existed. The "Office box" aesthetic was happily replaced with elements fit for a proper Maryland manor house.
We even managed to relocate the children's turtle pond and it's inhabitants.
