The Set Designer and the Architect:

What do you design for a theater designer and an architect? These clients approached with a "we know what we would do but want to see what you can do" assignment. The home was a large loft space that had previously had everything remodeled. Our kitchen had to respond to that- with the usual, better function, more storage, true cooking kitchen. These guys like to entertain and that means that people crowd into the kitchen- the previous U-shape didn't even begin to work.

You'll see this big island strategy often in our work because it keeps the spectators out of the show- unless you need some ad hoc sous chefing then there's abundant space for your minions- or a buffet- or a project- flexible, functional, clean lines. It works- and then some.
